Enlighten Your Child: A guide to resources that bring ancient wisdom to today' children Available November 2003  Our guide features: More than 300 multicultural and inspirational books, tapes, videos, activites and web sites to enlighten and inspire children infant to 12 years of age. Our LightYears review of each book -- including information about the suggested reading age, subject or theme, awards received and culture depicted to help you diversify your library. Jessica's opinion -- this is the feedback from our target audience, my five-year old Jessica. She helps me decide which books will make it to the guide and website. She has even chosen her 10 favorite books which she calls her "double, double favorites." The information is organized by subject and reading level. Indices by title, author and ethnic origin are also included so you can continue to build your multicultural library on your own. Tips to enhance the reading and multicultural experience including activities, web sites and TV shows we have come to appreciate for their enlightening content.  These are not your average reading lists! In our travels and experiences we have found more than 100 books, tapes, videos and other resources that expose our children to and enhance their perspective of the beauty and diversity of the world that surrounds them. To encourage early learning we search and find books, tapes and videos that are informative and enjoyable for children preschool to 12 years of age. For example, in our database you will find books that introduce affirmations, yoga, world religions, multiethnic celebrations, the origin of Chinese characters, bilingual bedtime stories, and Native American Indian, Asian and Indian folklore to children as young as preschool. We also include books written for adults that may help you enlighten yourself and be the best role model for your children. Most of our books and resources are available only in independent bookstores or by special order. Our association with Amazon.com has made many of them available through our web site. To encourage reading by all we include many books that are available in the local library system.
